Imagination Land Playground:
Warm-A-Kid: Every year the Kiwanis Club of Bensalem collects “gently-used” donated coats from dozens of collection points located throughout town. The coats are then distributed to needy children at an annual coordinated event sponsored by the Bensalem Lion's Club, the “Holiday Breakfast”. Here the children enjoy a pancake breakfast, receive a toy, and visit with Santa. Any remaining coats are then distributed within our area schools to needy children through the school nurses.
Student of the Month: The Student of the Month award is given monthly to an eighth grade student in each of the township’s public and private schools. The student's name is permanently commemorated on a plaque outside of the school’s main office. The student also receives a bumper sticker for their parent's car, and this award is given to them in the presence of all their classmates. All of the winners are treated to a luncheon at the end of the school year where they are recognized again and encouraged to continue their success at the High School level.
Educator of the Year: Every year the Kiwanis Club of Bensalem recognizes an educator for outstanding service to their students and school. The educator is nominated by their fellow educators. The award is presented at an annual dinner for both the Educator of the Year award and the Service to Education award.
Service to Education Award: The Kiwanis Club of Bensalem also recognizes an individual for their outstanding service to education. Nominations can come from educators and the community at large. The award is presented at an annual dinner for both the Educator of the Year award and the Service to Education award.
The Michele Vigilante Community Service Scholarship, Robert Young Memorial Scholarship, and the Fly Old Glory Scholarship are presented to 3 High School seniors who demonstrate outstanding community service, a solid grade point average and needs financial assistance. In addition to our scholarships we have also been able to give 3 laptop computers with the help of Riddle Technology Solutions LLC.
Fall Festival: The Kiwanis Club hosts a table at the Bensalem Township’s Annual Fall Festival. We are there to answer questions about membership and promote our programs. Please stop by and see us!
Sponsored Clubs: The Kiwanis Club of Bensalem also sponsors several youth organizations. We sponsor a K-Kids Club at Faust Elementary School, a Builder's Club at Schaeffer Middle School and have successfully chartered our own Aktion Club. Aktion Club is a community service group for adult citizens with disabilities. The Aktion Club mission is to provide an opportunity for initiative and leadership to those with mental and physical disabilities. The goal is for these members to serve the local community, be integrated into society, and to demonstrate dignity and value as they provide and participate in several programs and fundraisers.
Other: The Kiwanis Club of Bensalem is also involved in local, national, and international programs for children. Young Children Priority One, Immunization Programs, IDD Iodine Deficiency Disorder, and Reading Programs, just to name a few.
